Reduction in patinated bronze with high-relief decoration of the Monument to Dante, with glass top to form a pedestal table
The Monument to Dante, sculpture dedicated to Dante Alighieri is today located in Trento and was created by the Italian artist Cesare Zocchi (1851-1922) and is considered the symbol of the Italian language (especially in an integrated region then to the Austro-Hungarian Empire)
This project was completed in 5 years
There are several levels to our pedestal: the Paradise with figures representing Beatrice and a frieze of angels, then below is the level of Purgatory: Sordel meets Virgil and Dante, the representation of Pride and the sinners in Hell
The original monument is topped by a full-length statue of Dante, carrying the Divine Comedy against his chest
The base, in good general condition, is made up of several pieces and topped with a beveled glass top (wear and tear over time)
Height: 75cm (with glass)
Glass diameter: 70cm
Base: 48 x 48cm This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
