An extraordinary 17″ Chinese calligraphy brush consisting a collection of 7 jade Archer’s rings, each 1.5″ wide. Historically such rings were worn by the royals and imperial archers to protect their fingers in hunting or the game of archery. They eventually became status symbols of masculinity, bravery and wealth. These rare rings are made of green jade with beautiful natural black, gray or russet accents. Engraved on each ring are magpies on plum blossom branches and characters expressing “Good news and prosperity”. This is a very special piece as a brush for painting or calligraphy and a gemstone design element. Bone ferrule and horse hair.
