An Edwardian mahogany blanket press of rectangular form in the manner of Thomas Chippendale. The shaped and moulded top raised over two doors with shaped brass hinges, escutcheon and reeded closing slip opening to reveal shelved interior, supported over frieze with two drawers and brass lion head ring pulls above ornately carved apron of centred C-scrolls flanked with trailing acanthus leaves and foliate, all carved in high relief against punched ground, supported on cabriole leg with acanthus motif on knee terminating on ball and claw foot.

The ceramic basket can be seen as a flower pot or as a blanket chest; it comes in a light grey with red small dots and is a unique piece: handmade and handpainted in the small manufactury CortoMagDelft in Münster, north Germany. Every CortoMagDelft-piece is a one-of-a-kind but can be made again – probably with slight differences then. The ceramic basket can serve in many diffrent ways: In the living room the Tantouffles can be optimally used as a blanket or pillow storage, in the bedroom as a laundry basket and in the entrance area as an umbrella stand – multifunctional and always enriching.
It is very easy to keep clean, not difficult to move and not fragile as usual ceramic-objects!
Since it is engobed and glazed it is also suitable for the outdoor area and can be used as a small plant holder or as an open flower pot.

For Operæ – Independent design festival eighth edition, Secondome under the artistic direction of Claudia Pignatale, presents “WUNDERBRUST” a project by Matteo Cibic, crafted by DOC. As described by the fair curator, Alice Stori Lichtenstein “While nosing and poking around the atelier of DOC, Matteo Cibic was struck by the skill required for making cushions and Craft with which boxes and containers were leather-bound. He started to play with the idea of a trunk, seeing it as a timeless object which is passed along in a family. With an eye to the luxurious travelling trunks of the past, and one to the humbler and traditional wooden chest, Cibic developed his own very personal interpretation. The result is a seating bench, that by lifting the lid can be used as a storage space. Using the most natural leather as a canvas, he applied color and a pattern with his signature humour.”
The chest is entirely handmade, crafted in natural leather and chamois, thus subjected to changes through time.

Vintage Brazilian Walnut ‘Sabara’ Trunk by Sergio Rodrigues

A stunning and very rare vintage Brazilian walnut ‘Sabara’ trunk by Sergio Rodrigues. This was made in Brazil, it dates from the 1970’s.

This is of outstanding quality, it is extremely well made and is very heavy. The lid lifts up in two sections and this is divided in two internally. The front has beautifully sculpted handles, it is finished nicely on the back as well so can be used as a free standing item. This is finished of beautifully with stainless steel accents on the corners, which compliment the wood perfectly.

We have had this stripped and re-polished, the condition is superb for its age.
