This 19th century “make do” original painted checkers game board shows an outstanding polychromatic original painted wood surface and is constructed from a single wide slightly bowed pine plank. The playing field is painted in chrome yellow against a black background with the back of the board in untouched first surface paint of robins egg blue.
The board stands 18 inches in height and 15 inches in width. The original drilled hole that was once used for hanging the board is still visible and circular. This piece was acquired from a country estate in Maine and is Americana folk art at its best.
