This set of antique hand-crafted library stairs is unsigned, but presumed to have originated from England and date to approximately 1820 and done in a period Early Victorian style. The four step wooden stairs are hand-crafted with mortice and tenon construction with a sturdy supporting frame. The attached bannister is done in two pieces and is notched to the stairs and secured with two brass bolts from the inside. The stairs show ‘honest’ surface wear as expected and are very sturdy and functional. Please note the top stair stands approximately thirty inches from the floor.
