Design
This is beautifully exemplified in this dining set consisting of four chairs and a dining table made from Slavonian oak. This type of wood is renowned for its exceptional durability, impact resistance, and adaptability to varying humidity.
Rivadossi’s signature design approach is evident in the gouged surface texture that creates a pleasing relief. The chairs are constructed using a sturdy interlocking frame of mortise and tenon joints, with two slats on each side. The seats are gently curved and angled for enhanced ergonomics, while the slightly curved and angled backrests are adorned with a geometric carving of four small inverted pyramids.
The table features a visible interlocking structure that highlights the wood’s natural beauty and strength. The design draws inspiration from historical forms, resembling the sturdy, timeless tables found in monasteries or ancient Roman settings. Legs and supports showcase precision-cut joints and wooden dowels, eschewing metal fasteners entirely. This meticulous interlocking method not only enhances durability but also underscores the traditional craftsmanship central to Rivadossi’s philosophy. A thick, solid tabletop rests on a robust frame, ensuring stability and functionality for generations. This dining table is more than just furniture; it represents the timeless appeal of traditional craftsmanship.
