Late 1700s Gilded Empire Table Lamp made from a carved wooden palm vase gilded in fine gold, converted into a wall sconce for use as a wall lamp. In the back of this lamp one can still see the marks of a shoulder, an element that allowed its vertical stability, and the side marks of two handles, now no longer present. The central surface of the vase is chiselled on plaster and is decorated with the carving of a garland of flowers in two festoons. The end has an original foliate carving decoration, unusual for palm holders. In a good state of preservation, this 18th century gilded wall sconce is functional, suitable for an E27 bulb. Minor flaws to the gilding consistent with the dating.
European Plug (up to 250V).The wiring of this item may be original and might need replacement, if not specified otherwise.
