The practice of Swedish designer, woodcarver and craftsman Leif Wikner (b. 1938) centres on the forest of Jämtland, where he runs a workshop and woodworking centre with his wife Margith and sons David and Mattias.

An exercise in material harmony, this dressing table and matching stool is typical of Wikner’s considered production in solid pine. The natural end-grain of the wood is lightly embellished with ingrained detail to the stool and table, as well as the surface of a circular mirror held in place by two carved pegs with a satisfying heft.

Recently restored. Some minor stains and marks to the console, including cracks formed due to drying over time, remain.
