Early 19th century carved wall plaque
\nHand carved in the early 19th century this extraordinary example of religious art depicts what resembles a bishop astride a horse. With most of its original polychrome paint still intact this artifact is carved with some wonderful craftsmanship if this time from a single piece of wood. Uncovered in Germany earlier this year from an estate sale. The backing has its original cast metal hook in place so can easily be hung.

A rich patina across all the surface with naturally crackled painted surface as shown.
